Uzma Chasmawala (she/her) is a trilingual Mental Health Counselor that can provide therapy in English, Hindi and Gujarati. She has experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds including adolescents, adults, immigrants and international students.
Her areas of work include but are not limited to substance use disorders, anxiety, depression, self-esteem and identity issues, trauma, life transitions, grief, and daily stressors. Using an eclectic approach, Uzma draws from various modalities such as DBT, CBT, psychodynamic framework, family systems theory and client-centered therapy- approaching therapy through mindfulness and a culturally sensitive trauma-informed lens.
Uzma’s therapeutic philosophy mirrors a lantern (diya), symbolizing the gradual nature of healing and change. She believes that true transformation unfolds over time, with finding inner strength and resilience. In collaboration with her clients, Uzma delves into the underlying concerns, guiding clients towards understanding and processing their experiences.
Uzma embodies the belief “grow through what you go through.” Her goal is to guide clients back to their authentic selves, drawing inspiration from the warmth of sunshine and fluidity of water to create a nurturing and transformative therapeutic environment.
