Grace Holden (She/Her) CAT-LP

Psychotherapist in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY

Grace Holden (she/her) CAT-LP

Grace is a Psychotherapist, Dance/Movement Therapist (R-DMT) and Creative Arts Therapist (CAT-LP) at Greenpoint Psychotherapy. She believes all people have an intuitive voice within, and sometimes it calls out during a challenging transition, a crisis, unmanageable symptoms, a rupture in a relationship, a trauma or a loss. Grace provides a safe environment to attend to individuals coping with these difficulties, and seeks to support the strengths within each of her clients. Grace’s knowledge of the mind-body connection guides and supports individuals toward self-awareness and inner growth. She integrates psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness and movement therapy, which can help clients to identify and release traumatic experiences that may be held in the body. With somatic mindfulness, (a method for noticing patterns in thoughts, emotions and sensations) clients are invited to explore learned patterns from the past, to be curious about the present, and to work toward desired goals for the future. She is experienced in guiding clients to explore unconscious processes, to invite insight and clarity to flow more freely into being. Grace works collaboratively with individuals to determine the most meaningful approaches for therapy.

Grace believes in establishing a trusting therapeutic alliance with clients for transformative work to take place. She is experienced in working with teens and adults coping with depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, eating disorders, and mood disorders. She holds a Master of Science in Dance/Movement Therapy from Sarah Lawrence College and earned her BA with an emphasis in Interpersonal and Relationship Communication from the University of Minnesota, Duluth. Grace’s collaborative approach to therapy fosters client-led goals that are uniquely aligned to an individual’s strengths and lived experiences.
